okay, okay, i'll post, I'll post. Stop yelling at me! It was an eventful Memorial Day weekend for MarxistGopher. Saturday was Matt's 36th Birthday party! Good God he's getting old. We drove out to Hutchinson and ate at the Hutch Cafe. He could pick any restuarant he wanted, and thats what he picked? Well whatever, its his birthday. When we got back we went to Shawn's and Matt and Shawn were sowing off their latest jersey and helmet acquisitions; Shawn picked up a Ryan Thelwell Gophers jersey & a 1960's Iowa State Jersey; Matt picked up a 2005 Marion Barber Dallas Cowboys blue jersey(only worn in 1 game v. Carolina), and Shawn picked up a 2005 Marion Barber Cowboys white jersey. Both of these are in the Gophers Pro Football Jerseys section, but the link is down today for some reason. Check back later. If you haven't seen our site before, check it out! This is a lot of the jerseys and helmets that the 3 of us own, but not all. Hopefully soon I can convince Shawn to put all the photos of all out stuff on the website. It's actually really impressive.
Sunday was a brief game day with Matt & Shawn. We played the great Axis and Allies miniatures game. I had planne don posting photos from our first session a week ago with Jay, Matt, and Ben, but I had a problem with my camera and was unable to get the photos out alive! But here's a photo from the web of a basic game being played. Ours was much more active than this.
Memorial Day was amazingly fun! I went to a party at Jess's place at Noon with Brianne and a bunch of Jess's friends. (Jess and Brianne both work(ed) at the Pop Center) Anyway, it was a ton of fun. We barbequed in the squelching heat...I was able to wolf down 3 brats in 15 minutes! We were able to keep cool with our constant squirt-gun fights.(I now have a band-aid on the blister I got on my trigger finger) After the meal, we headed for the pool.....and my God was that sweet. I gots to git me one o' those! Swimming(or my version of it, since I don't really know how to swim) was great, except for the two 1st graders that latched onto our group and were hovering over our table by the pool while we played cards. Good God I hate kids! Finally Brianne had to be mean and tell them we wanted to be left alone. Ahhh, good times. It really got rowdy in the evening though, when the squirt-gun wars were brought inside the apartment! Yowza! In spite of being soaked and soaking the carpet in Jess's apartment, it was really fun. Overall, I'd give the day a 9! Which is pretty damn high for an Andy rating.
After I got home at 11:00 however, things took a turn for the worse. The power had gone in half of my apartment. The living room and kitchen were out, but my bedroom and bathroom were still working. Unfortunately, the A/C is in the living room. SO I went to bed and layed in my own sweat until I finally fell asleep around 1am. Well, apparently what happened is that the power in the entire building went off at some point during the night, and then came back on again. So I awoke in the morning and looked at my clock to see "12:00" flashing! "Oh Shit," I ran to find my watch to see that it was 7:10, and I was supposed to be to work at 7:00..."Oh Shit" again! I gave the cat his meds, which he then puked up 20 seconds later(he's teaching himself to vomit up the medicine because he hates it...thats not good!). SO I quickly cleaned that mess up, fed Spit, and flew out the door. But I still got to work an hour late...oh well. Thats what I get for having a great time yesterday...
