Sen. Jim Jeffords I-VT Will Not Seek Re-election
This leaves a second open Senate seat for 2006, but one that the Democrats should probably win. Vermont is a state that Democrats shouldn't have to worry about....I said "shouldn't," that doesn't mean they won't. Oh, why did Dean have to run for DNC chair!?

Dean could run, I would think, if he really wants to. It's still 1 1/2 years away and I can't imagine that Vermont is too expensive or prohibative for a popular former Governor to jump in and win.
It appears Bernie Sanders is going to run -- The Docyor has apparently issued a statement that he is committed to the DNC Chair.
Bernie Sanders in the Senate could be interesting.
meh, I was hoping for Dean. Oh well, he's probably better suited for head of the DNC anyway.
Another seat for the democrats to lose. I can just hear Karl Rove laughing right now at this one. His right-wing super majority is within reach now.
Jay. Instead of moving to England, move to VT. and run for the senate. You meet the age requirements right? The state is small enough for you to canvass door to door and I will volunteer to be your unpaid campaign "person". My suggestion is to make health care the campaign issue and hammer away at the Republicans. Your campaign slogan can be "you deserve french pastry"
